Literacy – read books about kindergarten and going to school. Ask your librarian for suggestions.
Mathematics – practice counting as high as your child can, by ones, fives and tens.
Language development – talk about how to ask for things from someone else. “Please, may I have a turn?” “May I play with you?”
Learning development – practice zipping backpack, putting on shoes, brushing teeth.
Problem solving – talk with your child about how he/she would solve some school related problems such as what to do if he/she gets lost or if he/she needs help with something.
Personal information – have your child help you label lunch boxes, coats, backpacks. Talk about the importance of putting names on all of his/her work.
Small muscle development – practice writing first name.
Large muscle development – run, skip, hop and jump as much as you can during the beautiful days of summer.
